The following icons indicate the ability to upload media:
Upload Photos and Clips
- Visible at the Group and Album levels
- Launches Media Uploader
Upload or Embed Videos:
- Visible at the Album level only
- Launches the Add Video Modal
These icons are located on the top-right corner of the group page and album page.
Upload Photos and Clips to a Group
Opening the uploader at the group level displays all existing albums within the Group. Users can drag and drop media into each album, or select "Add Media" under each album to upload photos.
As users upload media, the progress bar for each album will appear.
When complete, users can choose to add more content or close the window to return to the group.
Tip: Once an upload has begun, it will continue in the background. Users can simultaneously open multiple Uploaders for different albums to save time while navigating elsewhere in Vidigami.
Upload Photos and Clips to an Album
Opening the uploader at the album level launches the album uploader.
Users can drag and drop media from a file manager or search for media on their computer. The uploader displays a progress bar that indicates the status of the uploading process.
Upload Videos
The Add Video modal allows uploading videos up to 5 minutes long individually. Users can drag and drop a video, or select the file from their computer.
A progress bar will indicate the progress of the upload.
Users can input the following information:
- Title
- Description
- On (date and time video was captured)
- With (tag users who are visible and/or included in the video)
- Created By (users who created or authored the video subject - common for student work)
- Copyright (assign a copyright holder to the video)
- Duration (cannot modify as this depends on the original video file)
- Context tags* (or keywords to make the video searchable)
Once completed, select Done to add the video to the album.
Embed Videos
Admins and Managers can embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo. Users must have the "Add External Video" permission to be able to add videos from YouTube and Vimeo.
Note: Embedded videos are not 'uploaded' to Vidigami, but rather 'hosted externally' so they can be centralized. Users will still have the ability to modify key information associated with embedded videos within Vidigami.
To insert or embed an external video into Vidigami:
Copy the share link of a video from Vimeo:
Or YouTube:
Paste the link from YouTube or Vimeo into the embed field.
If the link is accepted, users will be able to review the following information:
- Video Thumbnail*
- Title*
- Description* (pulled from the YouTube or Vimeo description)
- On* (date and time video was captured)
- With*
- Created By*
- Duration (cannot modify as this depends on the YouTube or Vimeo video)
- Context tags* (or keywords to make the video searchable)
*These items can be edited at a later time. Once completed, select Submit to insert the video to the album.
Updating a Thumbnail
When a thumbnail for a video is not properly generated by Youtube, Vidigami is unable to embed that video in the system.
To correct this problem:
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Go to Creator Studio > Video Manager.
- Next, to the video, click Edit.
- On the left of the preview screen, choose a thumbnail.
- Click Save changes.
