Any user with the Contributor role can create albums. To create a new album, navigate to the appropriate group and then select the New Album option.
Here, you can add:
- Album Name
- Start Date - useful for typing albums to certain events at school.
- Year-round - if the album contains media from throughout the year.
- Groups - which and how many groups this album is linked to (an album can be linked to more than one groups in Vidigami. This does not mean that the album and its content are duplicated. It means that the album will live in multiple locations and tied to different groups of people.)
- Tags - this is where you will be able to apply album-level tags, which will automatically be inherited by any media uploaded to the album.
Proceed to save changes and create the new album.
Tip: Choose a Good Name!
How you name your albums helps with navigation for your users and the overall organization of your Vidigami site. Use specific, descriptive, and meaningful terms to make it easy for everyone to find the album and make sure they know where to add the right content. For instance, “October” is too broad for an album title - users would upload all types of photos (e.g., sports events, parties, school trips, etc.), making categorization and navigation more complex. “Halloween” is a more specific title – a “Halloween” album would include very specific photos tied to a specific event.
